How-To Wrangle Contracts and Licensing for Your Library

Competency: Library Management Competencies
Sub-Category: Financial Management

Contracts and licensing happen in all libraries. Whenever a library acquires a database or an e-book, purchases a service, or employs a worker, legally binding agreements are formed whether you know it or not, whether you negotiate the terms or not. Learn the components of contracts and license agreements, and how to wrangle contracts that are favorable to your library. Empower yourself to maximize your library’s legal protections and return on investment.

In this webinar, you’ll learn how to customize contracts and develop new ones using templates and standards for each type of contract and service. Learn the essential clauses and language you should add to or strike from contracts and understand how to negotiate contracts effectively with vendors. Ensure your compliance with government regulations and institutional policies. You’ll see examples, hear stories, and pick up a wide variety of tips and tricks accrued from the presenter’s work with vendors, attorneys, and state agencies.

You don’t need a law degree to think like a lawyer!
