Working with consultants to create transformative, dynamic learning opportunities can provide rewards for everyone involved, as Southwest Florida Library Network (SWFLN) Continuing Education Coordinator Aaron Blumberg and writer-trainer-presenter-consultant Paul Signorelli confirmed during a project they developed for SWFLN members in May 2016.
Join them for this highly-interactive hour-long exploration that looks from the staff member’s and consultant’s points of view, at how the process of designing, delivering, and evaluating training blossoms through effective collaboration.
Participants, by the time they leave the session, will:
- Be able to define and identify key steps to be taken to foster results-driven training collaborations between library staff members and external consultants
- Have at least three case studies they can use when engaged in staff-consultant collaborations to develop onsite and online learning opportunities
- Identify at least two actions that can be taken immediately in their workplaces to foster stronger collaborations between partners developing and facilitating positive learning opportunities for those they serve
Paul Signorelli ~ Biography
Paul, co-author of Workplace Learning & Leadership with Lori Reed, served as director of staff training for the San Francisco Public Library system before becoming an independent writer-trainer-instructional designer-presenter-consultant. He designs and facilitates online and face-to-face learning opportunities throughout the U.S.; is active on New Media Consortium Horizon Report advisory boards/expert panels, in the Association for Talent Development (ATD–formerly the American Society for Training & Development ) and American Library Association Learning Round Table; and explores innovations in onsite and online training-teaching-learning and community partnerships.
Aaron Blumberg ~ Biography
Aaron serves as the Continuing Education Coordinator for the Southwest Florida Library Network. He is responsible for developing and implementing the Continuing Education and training services of SWFLN. He works with SWFLN members and their libraries to research, evaluate, develop, communicate, and engage library staff and volunteers in all types of workplace learning and organizational performance improvement, including technological tools likely to affect resource sharing and information provision in library environments. Aaron also represents SWFLN at state and professional meetings. He earned his Master of Library and Information Studies from the Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Criticism from the Florida State University, as well.
