PCI Webinar with Beth Weisberg

What to Do When Emotions Disrupt at Work

Thursday, July 27th from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EST

Competency: Personal/Interpersonal Competencies
Sub-Category: Routinely examines own behavior, accepts accountability for own actions and adjusts appropriately

Like it or not, emotions show up in our workplaces every day, sometimes all throughout the day — and emotional displays at work, whether ours or others, have the potential to create problems for everyone around us. So, can we do anything about it other than to outlaw emotions at work?

Since outlawing emotional behaviors is a pretty futile endeavor, it is far better to direct our efforts to really understanding what’s going on when upsetting emotional displays occur, then applying some practical emotional intelligence skills to deal with both the unhelpful emotions we experience personally and those we observe others experiencing. That’s what we’ll do in this webinar program!

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Better understand what happens when we get “emotionally hijacked”
  • Quickly recognize when emotions are getting triggered
  • Slow down emotional reactions so we can choose how to respond
  • Use emotional intelligence skills to steer the course of a situation fraught with emotion for one or both participants
