The 2014 Horizon Report > Library Edition, with more than one million downloads during the weeks following its publication online, became a must-read resource for library staff interested in key educational-technology trends, challenges, and developments last year. Release of the 2015 Library Edition in August 2015 provides an essential update for all trainer-teacher-learners interested in knowing more about how to effectively incorporate technology into staff- and library-user learning opportunities.
To gain exposure to new ideas both within and beyond the library field and to stretch beyond your normal tech comfort zone, join us for this survey of the 2015 Library Edition and a discussion with your peers to see what your colleagues are doing with technology in libraries.
Participants, by the time they leave the session, will:
- Be able to demonstrate familiarity with at least three tech trends, three tech challenges, and three critically important technologies
- Identify at least three ways that colleagues in libraries are using the technologies under discussion
- Have at least two resources they can explore to increase their knowledge of tech trends and challenges
Please note: Although the report focuses specifically on academic and research libraries, the discussion will take a more inclusive view to apply the findings to public and other libraries.
Paul Signorelli ~ Biography
Paul, an advisory board/expert panel member for New Media Consortium Horizon reports for the past five years and co-author of Workplace Learning & Leadership with Lori Reed, served as director of staff training for the San Francisco Public Library system before becoming an independent writer-trainer-instructional designer-presenter-consultant.
He continues to design and facilitate online and face-to-face learning opportunities throughout the U.S.; is also active in the Association for Talent Development (ATD–formerly the American Society for Training & Development) and American Library Association Learning Round Table; and explores innovations in onsite and online training-teaching-learning and community partnerships.
